I haven't blogged in about...3 years. I used to blog a lot, back when it was THE thing to do. Now, I guess blogs are like butts--everyone has one and they all stink. Well, this is my stinky, insignificant blog. :)
What do you think heaven is like? When I think of heaven I imagine a 1,500 mile golden sky-scraper, but it's 1,500 miles wide too...some say that each level of precious stone is 1,500 miles or however many cubits that happens to be. I mean, I don't mean to drag this out, but don't you think heaven is going to be like all theme parks put together--Walt Disney World on steroids--minus the roller coasters, maybe. I used to have this concept that, in heaven, we would all sit in a big semi-circle singing hymns for eternity. Not too much fun to me since I'm a visual person. But then again, in heaven, won't really want to do anything but Praise and glorify the Truth.
I think the biggest surprise in heaven will be who we see there. I want to watch the born and bred fundamentalists who guffaw when they see that I'm there! Zack is here--ZACK!?!?!????? He listened to CCM, rock and country. How did he...oh well, he's here that's cool...praise God! Side note, if I see you in heaven, that will be cool too. :) I want to watch the people who thought theme parks were wicked cause it involved "entertainment" and heaven forbid we enjoyed living. I can't wait to see those streets of gold and see HOW pure they are. Seriously, do we know what pure REALLY is?? I can't wait to see the mansion prepared for me. I imagine my mansion will have wi-fi, a great entertainment center and a kitchen with better-than-electrolux appliances. I used to think we would never eat, but Jesus talks SO much about eating that I can't help but hope Bobby Flay, Emeril, and Kat Cora are going to heaven...and the guy who branded Longhorn Steakhouse. OH, and the chefs at the Beef House in Covington, Indiana.
I can't wait to hear the music. Do you think Bach is heaven's musician? I certainly hope so cause that dude wrote some pretty amazing music. Or, maybe Third Day will be heavens musician? Or what about Chris Tomlin? I've always wanted to be a travelling musician, but I don't think it will ever happen because I'm married, which is cool. God gave me a great wife! :) love you babe.
What do you think will be the most unexpected thing about heaven? I mean, besides the fact that I'll be there what will be the most unexpected thing about heaven? Will it be the purest of gold streets? Will be it the food, please pray for Emeri...or what? I think in heaven we will see and experience things we didn't know existed, like colors, I think we will see new colors. I think we might happen to experience new musical instruments. Don't get me wrong, nothing will ever replace the guitar in my heart...at least until I get to heaven. But seriously, tell me what you think heavenly music will be like? And I highly doubt Avenged Sevenfold will be it.
I can't wait to mee Jesus. Seriously. I've read so much about this guy. Saviour King, Heavenly Father, three BUT One, died for my sins, the Way, the Truth and THE Life!?!?!? Hello, does it get any more cooler than meeting the guy who invented life? I met the guy who claimed to invent day-trading once...he was boring. Jesus/God/The Holy Spirit invented LIFE! He invented you and me, and I want to meet the One who invented me. The one who thought of me before anyone else ever even knew I would exist and even after those who knew I existed wished I didn't. He thought of ME!!!!!!! More importantly though, he pursued me, saved me and has justified me before God. I can't get enough of this man! Why does music have to be so boring and preaching all about what we can't do? Why can't we play louder and longer for the One who created expression and preach about what we have the Power to do? You know, like the power to come before the Throne of GOD!?!?!?!?!? Hello, THAT is power. I don't care what you 1.1 billion atheists (fools) say I talk to God at his Throne. Why? Cause he's my Daddy....literally. Abba means daddy. I'm tired of hearing people who think we have to be dressed a certain way or need to have come to "a certain point in our heart" to honestly come before the Throne of God. I mean, God knows our thoughts anyway...so if God knows our thoughts and if we're supposed to pray without ceasing shouldn't our prayers be more like a conversation with Jesus overall? Don't get me wrong, I think we should have a fear and reverance when we pray. But there is a difference between fear and reverance and politics and being polished. Jesus didn't hang out with te Pharisees, he hung out with Matthew the pervert tax collector. I mean, this dude was lower than low...the Bible says "Sinners and tax collectors"...why the distinction? Duh, cause tax collectors were lower than sinners. But guess what, Jesus hung out with the tax collectors...that's why heaven is going to be so cool. It will be FULL of people who shouldn't be there and KNOW it too...I'll be in the 4th row, second from left just blending in and not wanting to stand out.
By the way, how many people will be in heaven? A billion? 5 billion? Who knows, but I guarantee that I'll meet everyone by year 22 million. That's the great thing about heaven and eternity. It's like meeting your special someone for the first time...you never want it to end, but unlike that fateful meeting, heaven never ends. When I was a kid...say, 4 or 5. I remember Pastor Grittin saying that heaven would be like earth in that we would all have a job to do like Adam and Eve since we were put on this earth to work. If memory serves, and I have a good one in reality, he said heaven would be like earth where we gather crops and all that but it really wouldn't be work since it was all for God's Glory. That NEVER made sense to me. How could we sit around in a semi-circle forever and always and sing hymns if we were hoe-ing the ground digging up potatoes for supper?? Then it hit me. We won't give a crap. Heaven will be so cool we won't care what we do cause we'll be with God. Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
One question, will we get to meet the Holy Spirit?
Good night from me to you.
